Why aluminium?

Aluminium gives you the narrowest frames and the largest glazed area for a given opening, which is why it suits Provençal properties with big south-facing views. It does not warp, it takes a powder-coated finish in any RAL colour, and it needs almost no maintenance beyond an occasional wash. Modern aluminium is thermally broken, so the insulation is a long way from the aluminium of thirty years ago.

We supply Préfal aluminium joinery, manufactured in France, and we take care of the survey, the manufacture to your dimensions and the installation.

What we make in aluminium

• Casement and tilt-and-turn windows

  One, two or three opening sashes, fixed lights, and shaped or arched frames for older façades.

• Sliding patio doors

  Two, three or four panels running on a low threshold — see our sliding and French doors page.

• Pocket sliding doors

  The panels disappear into the wall, leaving a completely clear opening onto the terrace.

• French doors

  Full-height opening doors onto a terrace or balcony, with the same frames as the windows.

• Front doors

  Aluminium entrance doors with multi-point locking and made-to-measure panel designs.

• Replacement in renovation

  New frames fitted over the existing ones — no rendering to redo, no disruption inside.

Glazing, colours and finishes

Standard fitting is double glazing with a warm-edge spacer and a low-emissivity coating. We also fit acoustic glazing on roadside elevations, toughened or laminated safety glass where the building regulations require it, and solar-control glazing on large south and west-facing openings — useful in the Var.

Frames are powder-coated in any RAL colour, matt or textured, and can be a different colour inside and out. Anthracite grey, off-white and bronze are the most common choices here.

Aluminium, PVC or timber?

Aluminium for large openings, slim sightlines and colour freedom. PVC for the best insulation-to-price ratio on standard openings. Timber for character properties and protected settings. We fit all three, so the advice you get is not steered by what we happen to stock.
